As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 6,016, an increase of 147 (+2.5%) from the 2010 census count of 5,869, which in turn reflected an increase of 469 (+8.7%) from the 5,400 counted in the 2000 census. Located on the northern end of the Somerset Hills, Mendham Township is situated in the Raritan Valley region within the New York Metropolitan area.
