Tufeşti is a working agricultural commune rather than a resort, so the budget advantage is structural: homestay rates, home-cooked Romanian staples (mămăligă, sarmale, mititei), and informal village hospitality keep daily costs well below what you would pay in the Carpathians or on the Black Sea coast. The trade-off is very limited in-village services — most banks, pharmacies, supermarkets, and varied restaurants sit 25 km away in Brăila city.
Set a rural base for 2–4 nights and use Brăila or neighbouring villages as day-trip anchors. The Bărăgan Plain landscapes, sunflower and cereal fields, and the Danube floodplain are essentially free to explore, while fishing access, agri-tourism farm visits, and lower-Danube wetland boat trips are the main paid add-ons. Avoiding July–August weekends and confirming intercity transport ahead of arrival are the two biggest money-savers for this part of Romania.
