Flaçà sits on the R11 Rodalies line between Girona and Figueres, with its own station (Flaçà–L'Escala), making it one of the cheapest rail-connected bases in the Baix Empordà. Most travelers pass through on the way to the coast, but staying here instead of in seaside towns like l'Escala or Empuriabrava cuts nightly costs sharply while keeping the beaches 20–35 minutes away by train or car.
The town is agricultural and residential rather than touristic, so the biggest savings come from rhythm: shop at the weekly Empordà markets and producer cooperatives, eat the daily lunch menú at village bars, and treat the paid anchors (Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, coastal coves) as targeted day trips rather than overnight splurges.
